This is the first step on the road to conservation and local sustainable development. Scientific committees are involved to select habitats, and once this has been decided, funds are used to buy land for local conservation projects and push for their protection with local governments.

Plastic can take hundreds of years to degrade. Often, they get smaller and smaller until they become microplastics, which are now everywhere. It is very harmful to marine life, contaminates our food, and pollutes our oceans. There are currently an estimated 75-199 million tons of plastics in our oceans. That’s why we partnered with trusted and certified organizations like Plastic Fischer, Plastic Bank, Oceans Integrity, See Turtles, and others to help clean the ocean and prevent more plastic from reaching open waters. Our partners work with local river and coastal communities, giving them incentives or hiring them to help collect plastic or build swimming barriers. Plastic is then sorted and recycled. Our partners' efforts cover inland collection to prevent plastics from reaching ocean-bound rivers, coastal beaches, and river cleanups, as well as ocean clean up efforts.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas that is produced mainly by burning fossil fuels. It is the main cause of climate change. Carbon credits allow people and organizations to compensate for their greenhouse gas emissions they can’t avoid, by funding projects that reduce emissions somewhere else. Protecting marine areas is a key effort in ocean conservation. The areas we protect are designated Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) due to their ecological importance to maintaining marine ecosystems. We enable protection for areas that are crucial in maintaining aquatic ecosystems healthy, like reproductive and nursery grounds for important marine species, as well as biodiversity hotspots that sustain ecosystem function. We partner with trusted organizations like Coral Reef Alliance. Our partners work to ensure that Marine Protected Areas (MPA) have their legal protection status enforced by supporting the necessary infrastructure to prevent illegal and destructive activities. They work with local communities to patrol the marine areas, checking for illegal sewage dumping which helps keeping the water clean, establish sustainable fishing practices and management programs when necessary, and organizing boat patrols to ensure the perimeter of the MPAs are not violated.

Corals are colonies of millions of tiny little animals. They are cousins of jellyfish and anemones, and are home to a quarter of all marine species! They provide food for millions of people, attract a lot of tourism and act as barriers protecting shorelines from storms. We partner with trusted organizations like Coral Guardian and Biorock Indonesia to restore coral reefs that have been damaged or degraded due to human activities. Our partners grow living corals in a nursery and transplant them to the degraded reef when the fragments reach a viable size. Then, they monitor the growth and health of the transplanted colonies to ensure their survival.

Sea turtles have a key role in their ecosystem. We need them for keeping a healthy balance in our oceans and beaches. They control the populations of several organisms by eating them, but are also food for many key ocean and coastal predators, placing them in a key spot inside wild food webs.Their shells are home to a myriad of organisms, and some sea turtle species carry entire communities on their backs, functioning as a dispersing mechanism for many species. We partner with trusted and certified organizations like See Turtles, Love the Oceans, and Conservation des Espèces Marine to help protect these beautiful and important animals. Our partners work at key sites around the world, helping protect important nesting beaches, promote responsible tourism, end the tortoiseshell trade, get plastic out of turtle habitats, and educate people about these species.

They also provide training and operational support to restore land and help communities rebuild sustainable livelihoods.

Kelp forests are vital for climate resilience and ecosystem health. They absorb carbon dioxide, act as natural carbon sinks, and support marine biodiversity, enhancing ecosystem stability. By buffering ocean acidification and reducing coastal erosion, they protect shorelines and marine life. These forests also serve as critical habitats for numerous species and contribute to global carbon cycles. Their preservation and restoration are essential to combating climate change, sustaining biodiversity, and protecting coastal environments. We partner with trusted entities like Veritree to restore kelp forests that have been damaged or degraded. Our partners attach juvenile kelp to long lines, transplant them and fix them in the field, then care and monitor their development to ensure recovery of the local kelp beds.
